UDO Refresher Series - Advanced Queries and Release 25 Improvements to Queries

This week, we're doing a refresher on Advanced Queries, including the latest improvement in Release 25, which now allows querying columns against other columns!

There is a search tool in the top right corner of the screen that allows for advanced searches and the ability to save those searches under “My Queries”.  These queries are user-specific.  To begin, click the filter icon:

When Query Management is opened, the application will display small gray plus signs on the query-enabled fields.  Clicking on the plus sign moves that field into the Condition panel. What you wish to query on, and they will appear in the Query Management pane.

This opens the Query Management Pane:

The list of query options will differ based on the field being queried.  For example, the Search Type field, a field that has letters and numbers, has these options:

Numbers have different options because the field has no letters:

New to Release 25 is the ability to make a comparison to another column in the grid. For example, you can query sales orders where the Invoice Date is not equal to the GL Date by clicking on the drop-down for the condition here, then clicking on the Column radio button:

You can then click on the gray plus on the GL Date to add this as the comparison field:

The last helpful option is to use the “Additional Fields Selection" here. This opens up a list of all the query-enabled fields alphabetically and has a word search here:

The search finds anything with the letters typed. This example shows any fields with the letters ‘ship’ in them:

When the Save icon is clicked, a pop-up window appears to type the name in.  Click OK.

You can manage other queries or add new ones by clicking the drop-down list.
