Clicking into the first menu option, Advanced Variable Numerator Allocation Setup, in the Advanced Variable Numerator menu…

…will open this. Click on the Create Source / Basis Data Selection Versions for Account Based Allocations to open the version list:

Let’s now use one of the examples shared last week, specifically this one for utility expenses being allocated to profit centers:

We need a version for Source and a version for Base. You can either highlight each of these versions OR you can click Add to create a new version. There is nothing special between these X versions as they are just storing Data Selection information.

Our source is the utility expenses across all departments in our instance seen here:

Creating a new version, giving it a name that indicates what it’s for and whether it is a source or base, in this case it’s Source:

I’ve added this data selection to this new version:

The basis is the range of revenue accounts in our instance which are these here:

The revenue accounts must also only be in the business units where the Region (Cat Code 2) is populated:
