UDO Security Revisited

There have been new UDOs and changes to existing UDOs over the last few years, so we thought it would be a good time to revisit UDO security.

UDO Content Setup: This is a one-time configuration for what Cafe1 and Composite Pages are allowed to use/show.  These can be set at *PUBLIC as UDO security for view, modify, etc., are established in other screens (below).

UDO Feature Security: Which UDO your organization wishes to make available? If you are missing a Feature in this list, add it to the bottom. If you do not see a particular UDO, add it to the UDC H95/UO.

UDO Action Security: What roles/users can create, modify, or request to publish? Under Form -> User Defined Object -> Action, click Add to see this screen. Fill out the first field with the UDO, then in the grid fill in the roles (or *PUBLIC), the objects (or *ALL), the forms and versions (if you have any to call out), and then choose the option in the drop-down list here:

Once you select a value, you'll see the radio buttons turn from red to green based on your selection:

This is a typical view of the Action security where SYSADMIN can modify/publish, but anyone can create a new UDO:

UDO View Security: Who can view and work with UDO's. This screen is also accessible and easier to use from the UDO Workbench, P9822U. When you click Add on this screen, you'll see it looks identical to the UDO Action Security except you have to choose the UDO object itself:

UDO View Security from UDO Workbench: This is done via Row, Advanced, Security option on the UDO Workbench, P98220U, here:

Click on this tab, then enter the user roles and click the red button to change it to green:

This document in MOS has links to each UDO which include their security setup. This is a link to Oracle's video, Managing Security for User-Defined Objects.

Please note, though, that as of the writing of this Ask Denovo, Oracle hasn't yet updated the Cafe1 security settings to include Media Objects, which was just made available a couple of months ago in the April update. For these details, you can reference the Ask Denovo blog here, which shows you what setup is needed to get this to work (which is also highlighted above in the first screenshot).
