Tips & Tricks: Multiple Screens, Favorites, and Recent Items

 

Many new users to OCA find that working in the single screen is frustrating, especially when you need to be checking processes quite frequently. You may have tried opening multiple screens and gotten unusual errors. The best way to have multiple tabs to work is to do it via right-clicking the Home icon here:

 

 

 

Then you can have one tab (or window) with Monitor Processes and another window for regular work.

 

 

Initial training on OCA is like drinking from a firehose - you don't get as much intake as you could if it were just a sip at a time. One of the most common foundational topics you may learn but not put into practice is Favorites. Many consultants will show this but not create their own Favorites during the project because they need to keep showing the REAL path or ACTUAL location of an application or process. Then everyone forgets about Favorites. Time for a "sip" of Favorites!

 

Firstly, you have to be in the actual application itself. For this example, the Asset Inquiry screen is open. Click on the star in the top right corner, and click "Add to Favorites":

 

 

 

On the pop-up, you can change the name or make a new folder to put this Favorite in:

 

 

 

To manage your Favorites, you can click the star icon at anytime, even from the home page. Under Manage Favorites, you can maintain folders, rearrange the order of Favorites, and delete:

 

 

 

 

Also in the star is Recent Items. For some users, this is more helpful than adding a Favorites listing as it's a list of the last 20 screens you visited and are all hyperlinks to that actual screen:
